Tomorrow: 7000+mph

For all you speed junkies, here is something to peel back your eyelids.
Tomorrow NASA will attempt to meet or exceed 7000mph, ten times the speed of sound, or 100 times faster than I've ever driven my current ride. The vehicle is the X-43A, and she's (hopefully) gonna make us all look like we're standin' still.

The X-43A did it! It broke the World Jet Speed Record at "about" 7000mph or just under Mach 10. They say the aircraft's skin reached about 3000 degrees from the air friction.
WOW!

On a sad note however, NASA does not retrieve these particular test vehicles, so she's deep-sixed at the bottom of the Pacific. RIP, proud machine!
