Tonight's car project (in the garage again!) was installing a new radio in the minivan - a SONY CDX-GT54UIW CD Receiver MP3/WMA/AAC Player

It has a USB connector for use with an iPod or a Flash drive, and a stereo 1/8" input jack for other player devices. We can also use it for the sound when we play DVDs on the laptop on trips.

Now I need to get one for the Fairlane.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Sweet. I put a Clarion unit like that in the wife's car. She's addicted to her ipod.

Nice! a lot of people say the Sony stuff sucks but I have a Xplod in the the MM and the truck and I love them. The one in the MM is better than the truck one only cause it has the amp outputs but it's still a great unit.

I need to change the head unit out in the 96 cause it doesn't have the jack for the mp3 player and that's a must have

Thanks. I'm sure there are better units out there, but this one was on sale and the price was right. It sounds fine, and is more than adequate for purpose I got it for, which is for the AUX port so we can plug in the audio out from the computer to be able to hear the sound from the DVDs through the car's speakers while driving to Florida this year.

The fact that I can also use it for the music I have stored on my phone (or on a flash drive) is just icing on the cake.

Hopefully, one of my next projects in the garage will involve the Fairlane or the Mustang.

I don't think there is a whole lot of difference between the units. They are all made in China. Probably all made in the same factory.
