This forum is the only automobile forum on the internet with a 99% lack of brand loyalty. It never ceases to amaze me. I agree with most of the valid arguments within reason but come on, aren't we supposed to love these cars to death? Go on ls1tech and bring up an EVO or Mustang and watch what happens. Go on an EVO forum and bring up a fox body and watch what happens. Go on and STI forum and bring up any of the above and watch the result. You'll get FLAMED and BANNED within a few posts.

Yet... bring up a rival brand on Stangnet and members come out of the woodwork to suck the soot off the rival car's tail pipe. I, for one, am getting sick of the pandering. Get your act together, guys. :nonono:

Since when did ACT clutches become junk? They've served me pretty damn well, and I got near 3 full seasons out of one in a 12.0-11.9 car. I guess a clutch isn't supposed to be a wear item

In the EVO world ACT clutches are junk, ask any EVO owner that actually drives thier junk and thats what they will tell you, and they arent 450 bucks they are over 600, if you drop 600 on a mustang clutch it will be good for 10 second passes.

FWIW ive never burnt up a clutch and i beat the piss out of my stuff

act evo 9 clutch - Google Product Search

Is there no middle ground between a t-5 and a lenco?

Yes, have you ever heard of a 3550, TKO, TKO II, TKO 500, TKO 600, Astro T-5, and the list goes on.

You cant argue that evo parts are affordalbe. They are not. The end.

Your sarcasm detector is broken^^

That and it really depends on which one you spend your $ on. A 2100 is not a 2600 nor a 2900 ACT. I guess the evos run a premium of @ $150; but with the 'good' $600+ clutch it puts you right on par with the spec.

Go track your car more....eventually clutches go; its a wear item durr. That and I'm sure your car is fairly light and doesn't require a high rpm slip to launch it smoothly like an AWD car. Just how things go...'the end'

I used to jump head first into arguments like this but it just isn't worth it anymore. Just wait though, the next person to comment on this will say something like "brand loyalty is ignorant"...

Wait a second, didn't you own a Chevelle for like a week? :D

:nice: I've owned Chevrolets, Oldsmobiles, Fords, and Mopars. My heart lies with Mustangs, though. Don't get me wrong, I'm all over the turbo forums and always have my nose in magazines, drooling over everything and anything with 4 wheels and an impressive timeslip. I appreciate a fast, tasteful, and well put together machine, regardless of brand, but it's counterintuitive to go on a forum dedicated to a particular car, and hear multiple members putting down the aforementioned car over and over again, and conceding defeat. It always leaves me scratching my head...

That pretty much sums up exactly how I feel. I'll give credit where credit is due, but I don't come to STANGnet to be reminded that my favorite brand might not be the most effective way to go fast.

Would someone explain to me how is it that we got into the match of an aged pony car vs. a modern turbocharged AWD sports car?

+1. geez.

evo's are cool cars. i love my mustang more than anything but a 22 year newer, AWD turbocharged sports car better be able to beat my mustang stock for stock. i'll still look and sound better in the process. :D
