Kyle, the pedal has some slack in the cable from the factory to keep the throttle cable from stretching under WOT. It's an easy mod to take out the slack, feels like you gained 50hp (in reality you gained 0), and the risk of stretching the cable is very low.

Guero, glad to hear you like it! I couldn't believe the difference (SOTP-wise, which we all know is inaccurate, but who cares?! ) it made when I did mine many moons ago.

Yea Kyle, try pulling the gas pedal up, and see if it moves. If not, sounds like somebody already tampered with it.

I did this a few months ago as well. My cable seemed a little too long allowing the pedal to hit the floor before the throttle body blade was fully opened. I used a piece of 3/4" hardened nylon tubing as the spacer. The pedal sits @ a much better height IMO.

how do you 5-spd guys not find it uncomfortable? i need my left foot free for the clutch, so i position myself so the right foot is pretty set for the gas and the break and the left foot free. when i did the mod, it was difficult and uncomfortable to drive.

how many ties do you have to use to hold it there and how easy does it look like it would be if you don't like it to cust them off

i wouod think just 2 ties. it would be very easy to take off. just unscrew. i really dont like the idea of just using ties. maybe just to see if you like it then go put a spacer if you liked the way it felt. i feel like its gonna fall of if you just use ties since the cable is so thin.

WTF how odd this thread came back up. I found it the other day and so yesterday I did it. I doubt I was ever getting full throttle. There was a TON of play in the pedal. It feels like a new car.

What I did was I cut a little section out of a cheap bic pen. Then I cut a slit the entire length of the "spacer" so it would slip over the cable. Then I just put a small piece of tape over the slit so it wouldn't fall off the cable.

Here is a pic. You can see the white section of pen...or the "spacer" and the green painters tape wrapped around it. Sorry about the pic size.

This sounds funny, but I layed my seat down flat and layed down so that my head was by the pedals and my feet were on the headrest. Its about the only way to see wtf you are doing, other then taking the seat out.
