you probably don't have 2.80 gears if you have get up and go but no top end.

if that's all you're pulling at 80 i'd recommend some lower gears, at least 3.55. you're not running out of your powerband, you're barely getting into it.

if the mods listed in your sig are all that you have....355 or a 370 gear would be nice. However, your car should be making most of its power when you are at 80mph(2800) rpms. Your power ban just started!

your gears are definitely higher than 3.55. before you change you really need to find out what gears you have and what your tire circumferance is and hopefully someone with the knowledge of gears, tire size, and engine can direct to the gears that would be best suited for what you want to do. ie: cruising, drag racing, etc....

please note that "higher gears" means a LOWER numerical value. a 2.80 gear is HIGHER than a 3.55

LOL @ cobain, dejavu huh??? ......i have my sig setup with 3.00's and i have plenty of power up until 120mph, thats when it gets slow....2.80's shouldnt be THAT much of a hog.....something seems fishy....but I did tell you cobain how to figure out what gears you have

My Cleveland with 3.00's and an FMX just starts going in 3rd at 80 mph.... generally I can shift at about 80 into third and still throw myself to the back of my seat.

If you're having complications, you might just not have enough ''umph'' to get yourself going at the higher speeds. My old combo wouldn't push me much past 95 mph, just because it didnt have enough power.

You would greatly benefit from some torque multiplication, and a lower set of gears. 3.55's are normally adequate for a road cruiser, so long as you don't take it on too many long distance trips and have a heavy foot for the long hauls.

2500-4500 should be a sweetspot for that motor.
