Hey guys I am doing a 4 speed toploader swap in place of my 3 speed manual in my 67 stang. I changed the toploader oil (trany is out of car) and filled it up with 2 liters of good gear oil. the only problem is that if the trany is tilted back oil leaks out of the rear output shaft. if I lie the trany flat it does not leak. Does this mean I need a new rear seal? if so is it hard to do. any help and or thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks Mario

no, gear lube will run out if the transmission is not level and if there is no yoke on it.

Yeah, if you don't have a yoke in there, the fluid will leak out. You can get a transmission plug to slide over the output to prevent this, I think a set of 4 or 5 are like $20, the set of 5 covers different applications.

Thanks guys that makes all the sense in the world. I currently have no yoke on it and not pluged. Chreers to all for your help. To bad its almost time to put the stang to sleep for the winter.

LOL, down here in florida its time to get the stang out for the winter....its the heat and everyday rains that keep us from driving as much in the summer!

(and no problem, we were all there once and were very happy to have someone to answer our questions!)
