TPS Sensor part #?

I just bought a new TPS sensor for my 89 2.3. The guy at autozone said there were two part numbers. I looked at both of them, one had a bracket and one didn't. I bought the one without the bracket, did I get the right one.

you won't know until you pull the one off your car. one is adjustable and one isn't. You probably have to go back and get the other one.

haha, you're probably right. I figured I had approximately a 25% chance of buying the right one once my luck was factored in.

Yeah, I think I bought the same one from autozone for my 89 lx. It wasnt adjustable and at idle it always read at like 1.5 or so. Not good. I took it back and just left the old one in. I kinda wish they could tell you the difference in parts instead of just giving you one blindly. Oh well.

You have to take yours off and go from there. One is calibrated differently and you may want to double check the new one is working right also. I was in the Zone the other day and pretty sure I mixed a set up with there boxes looking at them

Well I work for Advance Auto and even I bought the wrong one first. Unfortunetly unless you know the part number currently on the vehicle it's just a guessing game. Many, Many parts are like this. It would have been much smarter for Ford just to use the non adjustable.

Well, I went to replace it today and found out I didn't get the right one. I wrote down the part number and went back to AutoZone. They didn't have the one I needed anywhere in town so I had to order it.

Long story short, neither part number they gave me last time was right.......
