well i cannot answer your questions but i do know that the first time i raced my 06 GT with the TCS on i had VERY bad wheel hop and i heard a loud bang at the rear and by the time i reached the 1320 my TCS light was stuck on ON and my "swerving car" light was on and there was another light on as well.. went away after about 20 minutes thank god but after that i have run with it off...

Is it just like the '03 GT I had, where it shuts off some cylinders (or something like that) and applies the brakes to the spinning wheel(s)?

I'm actually not sure if it turns off cylinders or not. That is just what I've heard somewhere on here. It may just severly retard the timing or something or pull the throttle off (I don't see how it could do that, being the '03 wasn't ETC - the new one is though, right?). I'd like someone who actually knows to let us both know.

the TC reduces the throttle, reducing RPM, and applies brake pressure to gain traction. this is not the way to get traction for maximum performance, just practical street driving, such as during inclement weather.

What burns me about it is you can't have it set default off and still be able to toggle it on. It's either default on and toggle it off or disabled entirely.

I wanted it off at every start but turn it on when the wifey was driving but no go said the tuner.
