I want to trade-in a vehicle (Escape) whenever I get my Mustang, so if they had one on the lot this might me easier. However, I would like to get a GT vert and those are hard to find on a lot.

So, if I order one, how do you trade-in? Do they give you a price for your trade-in when you order, and you keep your current vehicle til yours comes in, or how does this work?

Skip the lectures and advice about selling my current vehicle myself. I know the dealer will give me less that I could sell it for. Trade-in just is more convenient and you don't have to worry about TIMING. That is, being without a vehicle for a while (selling current one too soon) or having 2 vehicles (selling current one too late.)

So, if you are trading-in with your order please let me know how you worked this out.

They can give you an idea of what your cars worth day of order. Though they'll probably want to look at it again the day of pickup which would be when you'd trade in. Though if you have a specially attractive salable vehicle I've seen dealers take them up early if it's workable for the customer.

I worked out my trade-in price up front, along with the sale price of the '05. The paperwork was filled out as if the sale was complete, but I keep my current vehicle until the '05 arrives. My dealer just told me to keep it under xxxxx miles, which isn't going to be a problem. When my GT arrives, the only items in question will be my total downpayment and the final payoff of my current vehicle (both will be more favorable). If you haven't traded in a vehicle before, I recommend you go to the NADA or KBB websites to get an estimate of what your trade-in is worth. Then you'll have a better idea if they are giving you a fair offer.

this is how we do it also.forget kbb, it is useless and inacurate. nada is what is used. be perfectly honest with yourself, remember trade values are also dictated by geographic location, and deduct a few bucks for the carpet, upholstery and paint dings and you will be close.

I like the Escape real well but it's just time for a change. I've had it for 3 years and I'm ready for something different. Always wanted a sports car, but have never had one. I've had 2 trucks and 2 suv's and now it's my time for a FUN car.

I think i'll like the Mustang, but also am afraid that I'll miss my Escape on longer trips.

I just did this saturday, 2/4/05 they looked at my car and we agreed on loan value when ever the new car comes in. 4/23/05 car comes in we looked up loan valve in the NADA that's what I got for my trade. I was buying X-Plan.

Love the car, looks great. When the weather clears up I'll post some pic.
it's Sonic Blue. In case there was any doubt.

I had a 2002 Silverado 1500 which I traded in for the '05 Mustang and my wife had the same fears about missing the truck on long trips. We took a 600 mile road trip over Easter weekend, and this car was very comfortable.

However I must say that I have the leather trimmed Sport Bucket seats, which are a lot more comfortable than the stock seats.
