HELP ! Thank you up front for any ideas you can offer...

1) About a month ago Car displayed the OBD Code for solenoid failure
and shifted hard.
2) Repair shop replaced solenoid pack and serviced transmission.
3) Car shifted fine for one day and then would not go in gear without
hard "clunk" noise.
4) Repair shop could not duplicate problem but again replaced the shift
solenoid pack under warranty.
5) Car shifted fine untill yesterday when it once again would not go into
Reverse or Drive without a hard "clunk" noise. Additionally when I slowed
down to 5mph to allow a car to clear in front of me the car "seemed" as if
it was suddenly in neutral again for about 2 seconds before finally pulling
again. I parked the car for several hours and then could not duplicate
the problem again.

ANY IDEAS?

trans

Did u check the fluid level?

How many miles?

Has the trans been serviced?

If so, was the correct fluid used?

Trans

The car has 95K on it
The repair shop serviced the Transmission and used the fluid from the Ford
dealership. I purchased the fluid and parts myself and took them there
with the car...

I haven't checked the fluid myself. The car has the "2 Bolt" drain/fill plug.

I have it up on jacks (level) so I can check it tonight. As I understand it,
you pump in fluid until it reaches the top of the "filler tube" and the excess
then drains back out.... I just have to figure out what to use to pump in more fluid

Do you think it's a fluid level?

Type of Xmsn Fluid

Ok.. I double checked and it has

MERCON V automatic transmission fluid.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

What do you use to fill the transmission and make sure it's to the proper
level? I am thinking some sort of pump with a tube?

Thank you for any ideas you may have !

I use a funnel with a long piece of clear vinyl tubing, so you can add fluid
from the engine bay.

Dip Stick

Nope... there isn't a dip stick. The drain plug is actually a two part
bolt that has a "tube" which sticks up into the transmission pan.
The entire bolt is removed to drain the transmission. To fill the transmission you remove the small "plug" in the center of the bolt This small plug allows you to "pump" fluid up through the "tube" that sticks up into the transmission pan. Once the fluid level is equal to the top of the tube, then your transmission is full. I have heard this is new to Ford, but it's been in use by others for awhile -

Does ANYONE have any other suggestions on what the issue could be with
this transmission... Here are the symptoms again...

1) About a month ago Car displayed the OBD Code for solenoid failure
and shifted hard.
2) Repair shop replaced solenoid pack and serviced transmission.
3) Car shifted fine for one day and then would not go in gear without
making a hard "clunk" noise.
4) I returned the car to the shop but the Repair shop could not duplicate problem but again replaced the shift solenoid pack under warranty.
5) Car shifted fine untill yesterday when it once again would not go into

down to 5mph to allow a car to clear in front of me the car "seemed" as if

I would inspect the solinoid wires and conectors.
Since it shifted fine for a while. If it is still intermitent and not a constant
problem. Why not let the shop look at it again, I would think they will
gaurentee the work they did.
