Tranny Leaking from Output Shaft after 2 seal changes

OK guys I just put my engine back in and the damn t-5z trans is leaking from the out put shaft where the drive shaft goes in....I changed the seal twice now, once with a autozone one and the second on was with a napa one. I removed the old one, cleaned it up, put some rtv around the new metal part of the seal, taped it in and then lubed up the shaft with a little bit of tranny fuild and after about 2-5 mins of driving it, it starts dipping yet again. I first put in 3 qts of gm tranny fluid in and then drained some of it out twice now. What else do you think it could be. Also I have a aluminum Ford Drive shaft.

Check the slip yoke carefully.... If there is any bad or deep groove's in it chance's are that's your problem. Otherwise if your installing it correctly which it sound's like you are then you've got quite the dilema. Being that the T-5 case is Aluminum (Scrathes, Groove's Easily) it's possible that were the seal is pressed in it could be grooved up as well. ?????

The yoke seems fine on the drive shaft. It is weird it looks like it is leaking out from the boot of the seal. So it doesn't seem like it is leaking between the seal and the housing of the t5 that is what is killing me.....

Odd.... Trying to think of what else it could be but what is there???
The only other option is the wrong seal.

I recently changed mine too when I put in the new driveshaft a couple days ago. I just noticed a new bead of tranny fluid on the end of the T-5 today. I don't even get how that thing is supposed to "seal" anything anyway...the end of the rubber part is open. I did not use RTV on it though, could that be the problem?

This is the one I used...It wouldn't hammer into the tailshaft very easily without getting major bent up, so I dremeled around the outside a little so it was easier to hammer in, but maybe I screwed it up.

Yea the first on that I changed looked like that one, the tranny is starting to piss me off with this leaking crap. Any more ideas guys.

if your driveshaft yoke is fine then your tailshaft bushing is probably worn out and it's eating up your seals because it lets the driveshaft move up and down too much and wobble out the seal.

I thought my yoke was fine too, but once I changed itout it never leaked again.

ratrapp is right on! With the driveshaft installed, try to move it up and down, if you feel any play, the bushing in the tail shaft housing is worn.

The guys are right 10 to 1 it is the tailshaft bushing...

Make sure you put a lil tranny fluid on the yoke or seal before assembling, so you do not rip the seal as you do it.

That is the weird thing, there is no play in the drive shaft at all, I will check it again but I don't feel really any play in the driveshaft. i just don't know if it is becz I been using seals from autozone and ****. I ordered a seal from Ford and that is coming in on Wednesday and one of my neigborrs are coming over that works on trans, so i'll ask him him what he things about the bearing being worn out.

Parts store tailshaft seals suck the big one. I also tried two with bad results. I then bought one directly from Ford and it hasn't leaked since. The Ford one is of MUCH better quality.

Glad to hear it. I had the same problem you describe and finally solved it my roughing up the driveshaft yoke with some 800 grit sandpaper on the last attempt. In that case it was the ticket. Good that you got it solved though.

Well guys like 1 week later the leak is back yet again......I took it to work today and she was leaking out of the seal yet again. This leak is killing me....
