Tranny Leaking from Output Shaft after 2 seal changes

I had the very same problem, it was the yoke, really odd too because at first glance it looked fine, then i felt around a little and i could feel a tiny indention on one side of it where the fluid had been leaking out, if i were you id inspect that yoke very carefully, even the tiniest misperfection can cause problems like on mine, new yokes dont cost too much so id recommend just replacing it...

Agree, plus have you cleaned up the surface of the yolk?

Yes i have clean the surface up, the only thing is that I might of clean it too much up where would i get a yoke for a ford aluminum driveshaft from?

How bad is it leaking? I have a brand new TKO in my car with a like new FMS aluminum driveshaft and new yoke and it still always has a drop or two of oil on the yoke. My last TKO did the same thing. Didn't leave a puddle or anything it just seeps and makes a mess on the front of the X-pipe. I can't remember the T-5 anymore but I'd say it did the same thing. If it's leaving puddles then I'd say there's a problem but otherwise I don't think you'll get it completely stopped.

Check the movement of the yoke in the tailshaft housing BEFORE you put the new seal in(while the old one is out). Make sure the yoke is at the same point as it would be actually installed. Do you have a vibration while running? ANY small movement in the yoke/housing is enhanced while driving. Use a dial indicator to check it properly.

I'm still betting on the bushing being bad. Mine is very bad, I can move the yoke inside the tailhousing a lot. Yesterday I picked up a seal and bushing kit for $17 and change.

The kit I got is made by Federal Mogul and the part number is 5202. If you can't find that brand, then here is a Clevite number for ONLY the bushing 02105

You should little to no movement on the yoke when it's in the tail housing. I will be replaceing mine this week, maybe even today.

Do you have any vibration from the driveshaft when you are driving? You could have installed the driveshaft 180* backwards on the rear end. I know I did the twice, and rotating it 180* stopped the vibration.

So the tailshaft seal...you just hammer it in or what?

I got my aluminum driveshaft the other day...I don't need to install that in any particular way...referring to the 180 degree off post...

If the pinion angle was off too much, couldn't that cause the seal to leak?

did my seal twice still leaking but i think the shifter is leaking because if the tailshaft seal was leaking it would spatter all over the trans tunnel from the drive shaft spinning but it does kinda look like its coming from the tailshaft seal

My T5 started leaking the day i did a clutch in it. Put a new seal in and it blew that 5 minutes later. So I did a search and came across this thread so i ran to auto zone and picked up the bushing for the drive shaft that BlackFox5.0 recommended. Now i got the shaft back out of the car and don't know where I'm suppose to put this bushing? do i just slide it on the yoke? in front or behind the bushing? The reason i don't know where it goes is because i think it might have fell off the drive shaft or out of the Trans when doing the clutch so i installed it with out the bushing at all. Thanks a lot for the help guy's.:SNSign:

The bushing is pressed into the tailshaft housing - it can't "fall out". If you do have the play with the yoke in there, the bushing may be bad. It has to be pulled & pressed in - it's not a simple job.

Well it did fall out i just found the old one on the floor can i press the new one in with the trans in the car? how far in does it go? thanks for the help
