ok so i have picked up a World Class T-5 tranny for my 1989 2.3 auto hatch and the clutch pedal assy. I was wondering if i would still get a 1989 clutch kit for it or what year should i order for. and what length in clutch cable should i get. Will the auto tranny cross member work with the standard; and will the auto drive shaft work? thanks for the help in advance.

No the crossmember won't work and no to the driveshaft as well

You'll need the crossmember and driveshaft from either another 5spd car or from a 5.0L automatic car.

Where did the trans come from? If it came from another 4cyl. car, life is much easier. There are some pilot bearing issues to deal with if the trans came from a V8 car.

The speedo gear you'll need is the driven gear on the end of the speedo cable at the transmission. To do it right, you'll need to know which T5 you have so you can verify the number of teeth on the speedo drive gear. That will determine which driven gear you'll need. If you want to go cheap and hope for the best, cut about a 1/4" off the stem on the end of the automatic speedo gear. It'll work, but it's a crapshoot as far as accuracy.

The V8 Speedo (140mph) swaps direct with the 4cyl. (85mph) speedo. No changes are needed. It's the tach that gets you. There's a couple of guys who've altered the guts inside to read right, but other than that, you're out of luck.

Read here: It'll save you a bunch of grief.

well i got the white face gauges today, i have an aftermarket tach with shift light so i dont care about the stock tach. Ok so I took the tag off my t-5 and this is how it reads, was hoping someone could help me out and tell me if this was a 5.0 or a 2.3 tranny.

E7ZR-70003-AA REP- AP
13-52-162 26604-B0372

thats what the tag that came off the tranny says.

so as far as the speedo gear do i just tell them i want a stock 5.0 speedo gear or what.

thanks for the help in advance.

It's a 4 cyl. T5 with a 7 tooth speedo drive

You can get away with cutting the automatic's driven gear and using it. The autos used a 7 tooth drive gear as well.
