Trans is done. what todo.........

my car has been making a weird noise lately, and shifting horrible. took it to the mustang shop and i found out this trans is done. im not sure if i should just get this thing rebuilt or buy a whole new one. obviously i wanna built one either way but any suggestions thanks.

what exactly is wrong? Is it still usable if rebuilt?
If possible rebuilding with a stall converter is the way to go. Although there are some good builders that sell a whole unit.
I went with a 3200 stall, stage II kit, J-Mod valvebody, hardened shafts, and of course a cooler:http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=693684
