Hi Folks,

I'm in the market for a 1994-1998 Mustang GT, and I'm curious about manual swapping a factory auto car.
If somebody could direct me to a pre-existing thread with the required information I'd be forever grateful!

I have access to everything I need to manual swap a 1996-1998 4.6 car, but not a 1994-1995 5.0 car.

So, will the manual trans from a V6 car work in a 94-95 5.0 car? If yes, what about a manual trans from a 1996-2004 car? Are they the same?

ECM issues aside, how many of the mechanical parts can come from V6 cars, and can those same parts be scavenged from 1996-2004 V6 cars also? (Regarding manual swapping a 1994-1995 5.0 car).

Thanks for your help!

In short, no. The 94-95 cars were pushrod motors which you are probably aware of. They used a Tremec T-5 of which the bell housing and input shaft are the only differences from the T-5 in a 85-93 Mustang 5.0.

If you want to do this just bite the bullet and buy a new Tremec TKX, bellhousing, clutch kit, and Stifflers crossmember and be done with it. In the long run you will spend less money and it will handle more power. You cannot buy new Tremec parts for the T-5 so all of it is aftermarket now.

Well, I got all my parts rounded up so I figured I'd do alot of people a favor and document my progress on this swap.

I've done about 6 of these swaps so far (foxes and SN95's)so this will be cake for me.

For my swap, I'll be using a Fox T5 transmission and bellhousing. This is fine as long as you use bell and trans together from a fox. I do this because 94/95 parts are getting more scarce by the day and there's not alot of aftermarket support for items like transmissions and bellhousings, etc. Using Fox parts ensures that I'll have a much larger supply of new and used parts for...

This is great information, thank you. I'll probably just wait for a factory 5spd car, but if a auto comes up for the right price I'll have to consider it.

Thanks again.
