I need to know if there are any differneces between a stock T-5 and a "World Class T-5". I know they are different as far as their internals, but what about on the outside? Part number, anything? I am asking this because I am about to by another Stang. The tranny was "replaced" but forth gear's synchros aren't functioning properly. Also, how tight are King Cobra clutches supposed to be? I ask this because when I test drove the car, it was really tight, almost too tight? Any help would be great, thanks!!!

A stock T-5 IS a World Class T-5

World Class just refers to the synchro setups. SInce 1985, all Mustang T-5s (4-banger or V8) have been world class style.

It's just 3-peice synchros and different style bearings. Also WC t-5's take ATF while the early non-WC t-5's (1983-early 85) take gear oil.

There should be a tag somewhere on the trans.

It will have numbers reading something like 1352-52-XXX

The 3-digit code at the end will ID the trans. Post it up if you have it

I wish I had the numbers. I didn't even think to look... The guy said that sometimes from the factory the syncro's can be messed up and he would take it to get looked at. Haven't heard back yet...

I don't see how they can be messed up from the factory unless they have baboons assembling these things.

The t-5 goes together easily and every t-5 i've rebuilt has shifted great

The world Class T-5's have a higher torque rating then regular t-5's.

The World Class t-5 IS the regular T-5.

It's the Z-spec T-5 that everyone is thinking about that is stronger (330 ft-lbs). A lot of people associate this with World Class. It technically is a World Class T-5, but so is the regular t-5.

85.5-89 WC t-5 = 265 ft-lbs

90+ WC t-5 = 300 ft-lbs

93-95 Cobra WC t-5 = 310 ft-lbs

Z-spec WC T-5 = 330 ft-lbs
