Hi everybody. I've trolled here for years, but have come to my first problem that I haven't been able to solve on my own.

I bought a 67 coupe with the 200 and C4 tranny last year. When I got it, the shifter lever was loose, so I bought the plastic washers to make it "stand up straight". I then had to adjust the linkage to the transmission. After adjusting the linkage, the car will "slip out of gear" when I come to a stop. I then have to gun the engine to get it to go back in gear and drive. As long as I don't come to a stop, everything works great. I have read that I may have messed up the kickdown cable. Any suggestions?

If the shift linkage is adjusted properly, it should stay in gear. The kickdown does not effect this. Of course, that should be adjusted properly, too. Either you have low fluid level, or an internal problem with the trans.
