How much would it cost to replace a 98 manual 5 speed?

well that depends what you want to put in the tunnel. you have a T5 i bet, and that is a good transmission. the newer cars use a tremec (T) 3650. its a good one too, but it can have some problems from the factory, but they can be fixed. think about 500 dollars or so, maybe more maybe a less for either one. check the stangnet classifieds, i saw one on there the other day that would be just what you needed.
