Hello everyone,

Just wonder if the modifications that Tri State Cylinder head has made to the gt40p heads would help or hurt a stock motor in terms of 1) drivability, 2) performance. I spoke to a rep. and he said that the larger valves allow the head to breath better. He also said that the heads are milled between 3 and 5 thousands. I asked if that would create allignment problems to the intake manifold and he said no. Was he correct? The specs are as follows:

Ford GT40P Remanufactured

289/302/
60cc Combustion Chamber
Pedastall Type Rockers Used
Positive Oil Control Seals
5 Angle Valve Job
Stainless 1 Piece Swirl-Polished Under-Cut Stems 1.940” Intake Valves
Stainless 1 Piece Swirl-Polished Under-Cut Stems 1.540” Exhaust Valves
AWSF-32C Spark Plug
Springs Good to .550” Lift, (Hyd. Roller) *check cam manufactures specs for compatibility*
(129 psi @ 1.800” / 280 psi @ 1.300”)

100% Satisfaction Guaranteed!

They are $598.00 a pair. What do you think? Opinions please.

I would spent the extra 200 or so buck for there al. heads. Me and a buddy of mine have ran two sets of there al. head and them make good power.

Thanks for replying. Where abouts in the rpm range did you notice the power gains? Personally, I'm looking to maintain as much bottom end torque as possible as this is a street car/daily summer driver. I want to keep the stock gears because of the high gas prices.

Thanks once again for the reply. Your information on the topic is very helpful. Just wondering if the stock HO cam would work with the 190 heads and an edlebrock performer 5.0 manifold, headerds, 70 mm mass air, 65 mm tb and 1.6 rockers. I've been doing some reading and in previous posts people have been putting the stock cam back in to regain drivability. The change in performance (increase or decrease)was not that noticable hence some guys liked the stock cam. What do you or anyone else think?

Alote of people on here like the stock cam. I was running the tfs1 at the time ls1beater bought his heads and then he bought the same one. There was no drivability problems with the car at all.

The ONLY issue is the valve size!! when EVER you install a head with the valves larger than the 1.85 ( Ford stock pistons are notched for only the 1.85 size) you HAVE to be careful!! Be sure to check piston to valve clearance!! cool?? we have seen a 1.900 hit out side the valve pockets on stock pistons!! FYI..yes?

Thank you 88mouse for your input on the cams and thank you Thumper460 for the info on the valve size piston clearance issue. I would hate to make more work for myself because of a lack of information. There are few to no people that I know of in my neck of the woods that can answer these types of questions because of the age of the car and population size. I really appreciate the info.

I've installed a set of those heads with a B-cam. Car ran nice and trapped 106MPH pretty much with that combo and a Cobra Intake

Sorry about that. I forgot that we had to notch the pistons. We just used a dremal tool with the little carbied bit.
