Hello!

I just wonder if you can buy a new gearwheel to the odometer and the trip odometer, or do I have to buy a new instrument gauge cluster?

Probably be easiest to pick up a junkyard cluster. Check eBay. V6 clusters are super cheap, and the gear should be the same.

I had gone to the bone yard and asked if they had a cracked one and they asked why? I told them and he went to a shelf in the office and handed me a bag with the motor and gear in it and charged me $23.00. He said he bought a box of them an ebay. Worked for me.

haha, no man. Im not laughing at you, its just Im remembering my newbie days. That is a speedo gear that goes into the tailshaft of your tranny on the passenger side (i think). that is when you swap out the rear gears and need your speedo a little closer to accurate as possible. You might want to post some pics of what you bought so we can make sure you didnt get hoodwinked

I've ran into the same problem as you have. I've been to the junkyard on three occasions to 'purchase' the inst cluster only to find out the gears are either bad or on their way out due to the extreme humidity. Needless to say I have now a total of four instrument clusters at my house now.

I finally found a site where you could just buy the gear itself - View attachment 522968

http://www.speedometerplus.com/default.htm

Scroll down about halfway on the page it shows the gear, or you could call for the worm gear on the end of the servo-motor which was what I needed. I bought 4 replacement gears for my clusters for a grand total of $37.50... ($8.00 per gear + $5.50 shipping)

Hope this is what you were looking for. (Excuse my long reply, I was bored)
