Triton V10 in an '05 GT?

I'm going to say it could be made to fit. But that the cost would be so high that you would only create it as a novelty, not as a cost effective way to make more power.

It's also very heavy, and has a low-rpm powerband, meaning you could pull a house, but would run out of gear in a big hurry.

it was done in an SN95 car so I dont see why it couldnt be done in the 05. The new 3v v10 makes something like 362hp and 420or 440 ft/lbs.

I did neglect to consider the new 30 valve V10. It's still stupid heavy, but the power and rpm potential are better (362 HP @ 4,750 rpm & 457 lb/ft @ 3,250 rpm).

yes but finding a tranny with gearing that will make it fun to drive instead of driving like a truck will be very difficult!

It should fit, but it would definetly not be practical.

You wont see anything bigger than a v8 in any upcoming mustangs in my opinion unless its a VERY limited edition (like that boss 429 they made in 1994) just for kicks.

What about the V10 they put in the test mule this past year, the one they use in the Shelby Cobra roadster and GR1 or whatever.

That had no relation to the Triton V10 truck motor. The V10 in the GR1 and Cobra concept was an aluminum 4.6 with an extra bank of cylinders grafted on, if I remember correctly.

Ford that motor they actually took two Cobra/Mach 1 blocks, cut two cylinders from one block and mated them to the other to create a V 10. That car runs with two computers. On computer controls the left side the other the right. That mustang was made out of left over junk parts in the Ford Factory and I don't believe The Ford Motor company built it or took credit for it.

You are correct. That project was an un-authorized project done by some Ford engineers who were upset with the 5.4 SC engine that was slated to be used in the Ford GT. They thought that they could come up with a better engine for the GT. So they built the 351 V10 and got senior management's attention right up to Bill Ford. But they lost the political battle for the Ford GT engine to the 5.4L S/C engine developed by SVT with Ford managements backing.

Bill Ford was so impressed he ordered the troops to find a place for the V10. The first use of an "approved" performance V10 was in the 427 concept car, followed by the 6.8L V10 in the Shelby Roadster Concept (both were official offshoots of the Boss 351 V10).

However, the question remains, will we ever see it in a Ford productin car?
I doubt it, the new Hurricane V8 has made the 5.8L V10 not needed.

The car everyone is talking about is in las vegas. It is a 96 sn95 if I am correct, with triton v10 under the hood. It was not a project sponsored by Ford, but actually a personal project. I see it on a weekly basis, because he is the spouse of a co-worker.

This is not a 1996 Mustang:

Two different cars. The one you are referring to is probably just using a garden variety truck V10. The one created by Ford engineers was a one-off deal.

I think I remember reading in Motor Trend that the 351 V-10 Mustang couldn't launch without lighting up its tires, and the test numbers reflect that. They had said if power got to the ground better, it would have been much faster.

By the way...I am a retard...so what is a hurricane engine?

There are rumors floating around that it is a 5.4 with larger bore spacing 110mm vs 100mm and the same looooooong 5.4 stroke giving it 6.2L.

But that rumor may not be true as Ford has not said anything about the Hurricane other to admit that there is a development project for a new V8.
