Check in/out continuity at the tilt switch in the trunk lid.

The switch while normally not serviceable might be fixable. Mine was stuck in the on mode and was the source for a drain on the battery. Carefully drill out the rivit then carefully open up the switch. Clean all the parts with electrical contact cleaner and reassemble. I couldn't find a rivit long enough so I used a small bolt and nut to hold everything together. It's been working fine since the repair. I did this as the replacement switch was either no longer available or very pricey.

What I did was go to a junk yard, barter with them about the cost or find a smashed one, and use a grinder and cu the switch out, then weld it to yours(cut yours out too).

Would be a great idea. I thought of doing that and adding more lights in the deeper part of the trunk since the one light doesn't light the whole trunk up. That may be my next project.

It would be easy to retrofit a mercury switch or use a pin switch. A master on/off switch is a good idea if one fears the new switch might stay on due to lack of adjustment.

sometimes i have to tap on it. well that's better than not working at all. lol
i wired up 2 x 3watts luxeon LED's i had laying around. took a piece of aluminum
angle polished it up and mounted the resistor and LED's to it.
