I purchased a new trunk lid for my 91' notch and i'm having a problem removing the lock out of the old lid to put in the new one.Does anyone have some good instructions that could help me out.I'm not a mechanic so pictures would really help.Thanks.
I just pulled the latch mechanism out of mine last night. It's just as simple as undoing the four bolts that hold it in and sliding it out. As far as the key part, I don't recall as I haven't done that part yet.
Isn't it pretty much the same deal as a door lock with a spring shim that just gets tapped up into place behind the lock/tumbler mechanism...? Should just be a tab there you can wiggle out with a pair of pliers, IIRC...
There is a rivet you need to drill out before that shim piece pulls out (at least on my '93 there was). In my case, that shim was stiff, and an absolute beeotch to pull out. Once you have that rivet drilled out, the rest is kind of intuitive.
