I have a 65 mustang and I have lost the trunk key. What can I do to get it open, do I have to go through the trunk? The only solution I can see is to take the lock off from the inside.

best would be to get a locksmith out to pick the lock for you.

Actually it is easy to take out the back seat and reach in to take off the lock from the inside. Get a longer extention if you need to. I've done it many times. A convertible is harder, but still doable with long extentions.

Yes you can remove the back seat and reach up to the latch rod (about 1/4 inch wide x 1/16 in thick rod that goas from the lock to the latch) with a pair of plyers and rotate it to the left and it should pop open... then mess with removing the old lock.
