Hey guys. I've looked all over but I didn't find much information. I was wondering if there is some kind of guide or manual for doing a tune-up. I will be replacing the spark plugs, wires, cap/rotor, pcv valvle/screen/grommet, oil filter, and fuel filter. I don't have an owner's manual, so I am not exactly sure how to replace some of that stuff. I just want to make sure I do it right, since this is my first tune-up. Any help would be appreciated.

My advise if you dont already have one is to pick up a Chilton or Hayes manuel Of the mustang. It will give you a list of things to do for a tune up and pic and or how to junk.

It's all pretty straight-forward. The hardest part of all that is probably the darn PCV. The best way to do the plugs and wires is one at a time, this ensures you don't mess up the firing order and such. Also gap the plugs to the reccomended amount. Put some anti-seize on the plug threads, and use dialectic grease on the fittings too. The filters are both easy. I would reccomend buying a Haynes or Chiltons manual for your car to aide in these adventures.

Actually no. I just have never done a full tune-up on this car and I want to make sure I don't mess anything up.

To everyone else, thanks for the tips. The Chiltons Manual is a great idea. I can't wait to get to work on it.

don't forget the fuel treatment... sometimes 02 sensors are a good tune up idea. I would agree with picking up a chiltons or a mustang manual, they are only 15 bucks and they come in handy. Don't forget to check all your fluids... like power steering, brake fluid.... windshield fluid. Clean off your battery post. Just a bunch of little things while your tuning it.

agreed. get a manual and for things you cant find or figure out (the books can suck for the locations of stuff like the PCV valve), search or ask. easier than us shotgunning everything for ya up front, most of which you know or would have known.

good luck.
