Yeah me too. I am only 17 and I am the only one in my family actually into cars so I dont have anyone helping me besides my friends. I have learned so much more about my car since I started to coming to the Stangnet forums though! Thanks guys (and gals)! Need some help on this topic though. Would the gunk piling up be the cause of my throttle sticking?

Time to invest in the most important add on for your car - a Chilton's or Haynes Shop Manual. The Chilton's is my choice because of the extra info on the computer & polution control. Any good auto parts store will have one for $18-$20 or so. Ask for Chilton Book Company 26606 Repair Manual: Total Car Care.

There is a list of expendible items, air filter, fuel filter, O2 sensors, etc. The air filter is about every 12-15k miles, the fuel filter about every 24-30K miles and 60k miles for the O2 sensors, but that's why you should buy the book to get the correct change intervals and the how to do it details as well.

I would probably buy the manual specific to your car as well. They have manuals for almost every car that you can think of. You should be able to get them at any car parts store, such as, Autozone, Pep boysm Advance auto, etc. They are pretty cheap considering all the info that is in it and how much a beginer will use it. All of the things that you want to do are very easy for you to do in the driveway with basic tools. Anything like this is pretty easy for you to do and will probablt cost you a mint to get done at a garage. Also these days with the way some of the garages work god know what will be wrong with the car when you get it back just to squeeze some more money out of an unsuspecting customer.

HERE WE GO:

Cleaning the Throttle Body isnt hard at all. Just remove the tubing the enter the throttle body, and spray some CARBERATOR CLEANER in it, I used 1/2 can before..get a smally tooth brush, and clean the circled plate(butterfly), and the opening where the plate rests...more than likely there is a huge build up there, and aswell clean with carb clean and brush where the plate pivots.(MAKE SURE NONE SPILLS OUT ON HEADERS, ITS OKAY FOR THE DIRTY FLUID TO GO INTO THE INTAKE) Replace all tubing and turn on the Car.It may take a while to turn on, It should Idle For Crap, for approx. 2 minutes. Dont REV the motor! Let it burn all the stuff by itself..then take it for a drive, you should notice a different in throttle response. Hope this helps.
