I'm going to be adding some UDP's and an Accufab TB/Plenum and CAI. Along with the Long tubes/PRochamber midpipes and flow 40's would a tune be worth doing or would it be a waste and I should save it for if I go S/C?

Yes, get a tuner it will be worth it. Get gears also if you haven't already.

What's strange is some people tell me it isn't worth it unless I go FI! Already got 4.10's and LT's!

A tune will help firm up your shifts with the gears. I don't know why they told you that. Did you use a speed cal for the gears?

For power, no. Your not going to gain anything over a simple increase in Timing, which a simple TA can do. However, it can be used for more than that. just depends on what you want it to do.

OK.....thanks! Maybe I should talk to a tuner and get his input although I'm afraid of him just trying to sell me a tune which is why I was wondering if, with the light modifications I'll have on the motor, it would be worth it for any power gains. Doesn't sound like it!

Get the tuner, I suggest going to a local tuner also. If you get the tuner you can sell the MIL's and the speed cal to regain some of your money because the tuner will replace them.

IMO a tuner pays for itself over time, I havent used it on my mach yet but on my GT is seemed to make a difference in throttle response and acceleration. I had a diablo tuner, never went and got my car tuned but just used the diablo tune setting and it seemed to help out alittle.

overall hp increases with a tuner when non FI'd is non existent if anything, but as people have said, it serves many other purposes and it will pay for itself in the long run. i have an xcal2 and with it you can recalibrate your gears if you change them out, you can read DTC codes, as well as many other functions. i think they are worth the money. maybe not at first, but in the long run they are

I got the shop I bought my tuner from to tweak the stock tune one the mach. Over all hp/tq only went up a 5 or 6. But, he was able to get to the power band wider and get the power to come up sooner.
