Tuning SVO heads

Ive been running the SVO computer on my 96gt for about 4 years now. I have svo heads and intake and the parts (fuel etc) to go with them. Any of you have experience tuning 4.6's with svo heads? I want to get a Predator and see if i can get more power out of it than the computer i have in it now. I know the svo heads are slow burn heads and take quite a bit of timing. So tell me what I should do to get the most out of the heads and intake. Thanks

i have svo heads/intake and computer (96gt) but think i can get more out of my mods with a Predator. Does anyone have experience tuning svo heads? I know they are a slow burn and require quite a bit of timing so i want to jack it up a bit and up my fuel pressure and delivery. Am i on the right track to more power? Thanks

My mods:
svo heads/intake
svo computer
24 lb inj
190 lph pump
kirban adj fuel reg
long tubes
off road x
flows
power pipe (NA)
80mm mass air
pulleys
ignition up grades
180 thermo
alum rad

and tons of other stuff that arent engine related.

I plan in adding cams in the future and thought the tuner would come in even more handy then. What do you think?

I can give you some help, my cars down right not but my last combo included running the SVO heads, Intake and ECM on top of a SHM short block.
wth the SVO ECM the car would run high 12's, wth the stock ECM my car ran 12.50's so first you might want to do is put the stock ECM back in, I was not impressed wth the SVO EEC.
I later had Chris Johnson of JMS Chip (now owner of SCT) burn me a chip at the track and 1st pass the car went 12.30's and I could feel a BIG difference in high gear, after a few more passes the car was in the 11's

so a chip or reflash or programer will help you a bunch, which one....well Im'a little biased and would say SCT over the others

The SVO heads... are they truly aftermarket or just worked over stockers? Ive heard nothing but GREAT things about the SVO heads, yet no one has them...?

Wow, Thats a huge difference. My goal is high 12's with my current combo and i think some tuning and a good 60 ft will help out. Did you have a power adder or high compression? 11's are great times for NA so you must be one heck of a driver.
I plan on using a Predator. To be honest with you i havent looked into SCT. Do they have a wide range of tuning capabilities? I also looked into the Patriot from Sniper Tuning but I have been waiting for those to come out for to long.
Thanks for the info! Have a happy new year!

They were developed before the PI heads came out as a performance inhancer for the 96-98 4.6. From what i have seen the intake port flows about what a stage 2 PI head flows (dont hold me to it ). The intake was built around the heads and allows for a significant increase in upper rpm power. 70+ hp with heads intake and some exhaust work is norm. The reason you dont see them often is the price tag ($1500 for heads (bare) and about the same for the intake).

Well, not to hi-jack but thats pretty interesting. So the 70+ gain is from non-pi to SVO? Im sure itd would show some nice gains on a PI car aswell, obviously not as much though.

That is expensive though... $1500 for bare heads, figure in cams and the rest of the valvetrain being right around or over a grand depending on what you get, and one expensive intake manifold on top of that.

Sounds like a killer NA setup though...

that was ALL motor, car weight was 3280 wth driver(me) a TKO II and 4.56 gears & slicks

IMHO the SCT stuff is best out there, but I maybe a bit biased as SCT is one of my sponsors
