I am getting my summer build plan going and need advice.I am thinking of building an good strong motor for the street with the occasional trip to the track.I want a turbo and was thinking of putting it on a 347.Is that over kill or would that work well?I am thinking afr heads(not sure on size yet),gt 40,forged bottom end. This is my first mustang and first ford so I am reading up but wanted some advice from the pros. How much hp do you think A well built turbo 347 would put to the street?

low compression pistons, 331 (for reliability) AFR 185's custom turbo cam, a forced induction intake and 15lbs of boost

You'll probably crack the block with that. I was asking about a similar setup, using an s/c rather than a turbo. 10lbs would put you in the neighborhood of 500+ RWHP, which would require an upgrade to the block, tranny, and much of the drivetrain. I opted to go with the N/A 347 with a goal of 400RWHP.

You could do it, but the general opinion is that a stock block is good for 450-500hp.

I am also designing a turbo set up, 750-800hp(emissions legal). By the time you upgrade the tranny, block, forged internals, turbo kit, upgraded fuel(a 255lph IS NOT enough to make real power), engine managment, rear end ect....I've spend over $20,000USD on paper a the list is not finished.

That being said TURBOS RULE

I will be building this over the next 3 years as i expect the final bill will be around 30,000, with Baer brakes and Maximum Motorsport suspention. You may also need several seasons to put together a serious turbo system.

Good luck

^^^that's my dream setup as well, it's costly but for 30k you could have supercar performance in a Mustang.
