If anyone here knows about turbos I'm loooking to do a custom set-up on my car. I found a used Garrett T-25 turbo for sale. Are these any good? I'm looking for a high-end power turbo. Thanks.

im new to v8s but a t25 seems very small it would spool too fast for what you want

If your looking for a High end power turbo, look into the T6 series.

if anything just grab the turbo's off of the svo's or 83-86 turbo coupes. They were t3's and you could do a cheap twin turbo build.

No, don't grab the turbos off of SVOs. It's hard enough to find them for SVOs without having to compete with junkyard turbo scavengers. That said, two .60/.63 Garrett T3s will easily make enough power to split a stock 5.0 block. A single T70 will be capable of the same.

Forget you ever heard of the T25. It is too small for what you want, even as twins.

I've got to agree, the 25s are tiny and would not be worth the install.

So does the 25 and 60 or 70 referr to to turbo size? A guy is selling his turbos from his srt-4 neon. Would they do me any good?

And what should I look for when buying a used turbo? What should I check to make sure everything works?

DONT buy that crap off an SRT4...think about it, thats a 4 banger car and your wantin to boost a 5.0. For what its worth, im runnin a stock Buick GN turbo on my 200ci inline six and its a little small for what I wanna do.

If you do go huntin used, check to see that the impellar spins free and wiggle it back and forth, side to side to see if there is any shaft-play. There should be little to none. Check out turbomustangs for sure, TONS of awesome stuff.
Good luck!

1.) Typically, but there are exceptions.
2.) The turbine housing and Dodge exhaust manifold are all one piece, so no.
3.) About the only thing you can do is feel for excessive shaft play. All non-ball bearing turbos have some radial play, but axial play should not be noticeable.

just buy a Master power t-70. you can get them for like 500-550 brand new from alot of vendors on theturboforums.com. they are proven turbos and will be able to split the stock block without breaking a sweat.

I hear a lot of good things about the MP T70. It had some troubles in the beginning but sounds like everything has been fixed, and it sounds like the best bang for your buck when doing a mild rustang build. If you want a little more serious turbo I might have a really nice unit for sale along with a turbo kit.
