Nice answers Adam. I go away for 10 mins and a good thread breaks out.

Yeah, like Adam said, the electronic flashers are more stable with varying loads (like the alternator discharge Adam mentioned). I would use them on cars with altered lighting (even using LED's will lower the amperage/wattage draw enough to cause the bi-metallic-contact in the mechanical TS flasher to flash slow. Or like Adam said, when adding trailer lights to a system (not designed, per se, for them), it helps with that.

I try to check my lighting every now and again anyhow (at night, buildings with reflective glass windows work nice). And for TS lights, I just hit the hazzards and do a walk-around. I can see Jess' point about not knowing a bulb is burned out.

Actually that's a great point -- about the LED turn signals now being used more and more.

I would imagine for LEDs a thermal flasher would either have to be non-standard or it would have to use an electronic flasher.

The trailer I have now has all LED lights -- and I have an electronic flasher in my truck (had it before this trailer). I think I have a thermal flasher around I can swap to and see if my blinkers still work as they should -- I wonder...

Whoa, blast from the past. I have not seen him post in quite some time. (I dont read Talk much if that is where he hides though.)

I recall something from years ago about him doing the zillion LED's in the tails.

That would be cool.
