if i buy the tweecer, i install it on my laptop, and take it to a dyno and have those guys program it? is this correct?
and once the car is tuned with the tweecer, whenever i want to drive my car, do i have to have my laptop plugged in and the tweecer program running?
The idea of the tweecer is that you plug it in to the eec, then plug the tweecer's usb cable in to your lap top, then you tune the car yourself. Then disconnect the laptop, and drive away.
The tweecer works independently of the laptop, it will still work while the laptop isn't attached. The laptop is needed to make changes and to datalog I believe.
It's just a "chip" that you can tune yourself with your computer. If you take it to your local dyno, the opperator might think it's cool, but most likely, he won't know how to use it.
You should do a Google search for tweecer. You will find their web site which has all of this information.
...And a G-tech. Yes, that's the idea. Then you can also shoot for best delivery of power, not just highest peak power like you probably would on a dyno. Don't know about the Tweecer, but the EEC tuner can keep track of several different tunes including stock, so you can toggle back and forth- as long as the laptop is handy. I believe the EEC tuner was the first one and is more comprehensive than the Tweecer, but don't quote me on it.
The Tweecer has 4 settings you have programmed into it and to change between them you just turn a knob. So you can have a stock one, a nitrous one, and so on. You don't need the laptop hooked to it to use it, that is just for programming. Some of them, the RT version, do data logging so you can see how it is performing. There is a Tweecer group on Yahoo and there are several independent tuners around the country that can help. I know a guy that does it via email and can do dyno tunes also. www.v8mustang.com
I have a Tweecer, and it's pretty kick @$$. The only thing is, to use the wide band, u have to remove the egr, and plug the wideband into that. No biggy for me,t he car's got no emissions on it anyway. There's a Yahoo user group for the tweecer anyway. Good help, and the owner is on it often. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/tweecer/
