u guys use por-15?

that stuff is excellent, works well for any application

One of my Co-workers does restorations of Modle T's or A's (cant remember). He swears by the stuff but as dvs Bullet said, use gloves. Once its on your skin, you will have to wait for that layer of skin to come off to get the POR off. He also said that it dries to a rock hard finish and will not burn off under a cutting torch. I was thinking about using the stuff in my engine bay also.

I painted my engine with POR 15 over 5 yrs ago and it still looks the same as it did that day I painted it.

i also used POR 15 to paint my block. used the "engine paint kit." still looks the same after about 1000 miles.

I used the POR-15 UV Protective stuff on my car-dolly. It didn't turn out too good though. Rust is starting to come through again. Maybe its because its the UV stuff? Maybe its because I didn't scuff up the paint-surface well enough before painting?

I also heard you need a certain level of humidity (or lack of?) for this paint to go on well?

POR-15 likes humidity. The wetter it is outside, the fasteer and harder it cures. I've used it extensively in my restoration of a '69 MGB. Fender wells, trunk floor, floor pans, underbody...practically everything that won't get regular paint has been treated with POR-15. It's amazing stuff. Be warned: You can't paint over it with conventional paint unless you prime it with POR-15 Tie Coat Primer. So only use it in areas you don't intend to paint later. The POR rust proofing paint comes in Black or Silver. Also, the color will tend to fade over time with exposure to sunlight. The protection is still there, it just gets chalky-looking. It's best to use it in places you won't see or that don't get alot of direct sun. By the way, I also painted the MGB engine with POR-15 engine enamel and I am really impressed with its coverage ability and the finish. Bottom line...POR-15 is an expensive line of products...but they're worth it. Good luck!
