my slp racing pipes finally came in today & now i have to let my car cool down so i can take out my cats and install these in. im prepared to have to take off the whole x pipe so thats not a problem, but will i have to worry about my o2 sensors any? i have the predator so i can turn them off, but i just dont want to run into any unprepared bumps! and also do you think one jack would be enough to install these or should i go buy another one?

hopefully itll be a whole new sound in about 2 hours!

Itll be alot louder and raspier and more popping

Pick up a set of ramps, much nicer than tring to jack and block it.
Just turn off the rear 02's and you'll be fine. If it's been on there for a long time, spray the nuts on the clamps with a penitrating oil the day before you are planning on working on it.

well i got it all jacked up no problem buuuut the cats are gonna be a lot harder to take off than i thought they would be! i got the clamps unscrewed and off no problem but the cats seemed glued to the pipes. i tried twisting them loose buuut nothing. any advice? i was going to take off the clamps that connect to the catback too, but the nuts were a different size than the ones on the cats so i just didnt bother & put her down for the night. who knows i might try and do it this weekend when i have a lot more time to mess with it? any pointers to get the cats off come this weekend?!

and i was hoping to enjoy the o/r sound the rest of the week...

i usually use WD-40 since they are slip type, so i just spay it on the outside of it and start twisting and it usually works but idk if others have better ideas

Spray them with penetrating oil where they meet up with the pipes and let it sit over night. And hose em down to much penetrating oil never hurt anyone...

well looks like me and 03 ghost had the same idea he just beat me to it

go to your local autoparts store and get a can of PB blaster. it works better than WD-40 for this.

If that don't work then you might have to heat up the joints a little. buy a MAPP gas mini torch at a hardware stroe and heat up the slip joint. then it will come out.

thanks, do you think that i can take remove the cats w/o taking the whole x pipe off? ill go get a can of PB blaster tomorrow probably and try that sometime this week. hopefully try # 2 w/ more time in the day ill be able to loosen these cats out & slide in the race pipes in!

When me and helty removed the cats from his SLP X-pipe and put the race pipes in.. we used lots of pb blaster, unbolted the downpipes from the exhaust manifolds.. then we twisted them around until the cats came off the rest of the x-pipe.. then we took what was left and twisted and yanked and pulled until it finally came off

That chit was on there tight tho

Well, it wasn't my car (it was helty's) but at first there wasn't all that much difference.... bbuuuttt as time progressed it got louder and louder. And damn it was loud after it was all said and done.

It'll sound good, but it'll be a bit more raspy. You should be quite pleased with it

bought some PB blaster from autozone on the way home today! just got my car jacked up & took off the nuts on the clamps surrounding the cats & soaked the cats w/ PB blaster. i figure ill let it sit for about a half hour to cool down & do its magic while i grab some lunch...im starving! well hopefully in when i go back out there it should be an in & out swap...o/r sound here i come!!!
