Happens all the time. I actually have V6 running pony fender emblems on my GT. I overheard one kid say to his friend in the car next to me "It's not a GT, see it doesn't say GT on the fenders"

Yup, i drive a V6 and spent the time to put a GT hoodscoop, side scoops, spoiler, GT wheels, Cobra brakes, Mach 1 grill and chin spoiler, GT dual exhaust on my car and forgot to change the side emblems.

Shoulda revved it like a mother ****er so loud his friend couldn't hear him say "oh, wait, nevermind." Leave 50 feet of rubber, and see if they can't figure it out then.

Ah, that'd be fun times.

ive actually had people come up to me and say "hey nice V6" and then i roast the tires off and throw the bird. cuz im a tough guy LOL :owned: i think they are thrown off by the fact that mine actually doesnt have GT badges but it has the little steeda oval jewels where they should be.

How would you like it if someone mistook your Cobra for a V6
I would not care and I certainly would not take the bait if they tried to cast aspersions on my car while in earshot of me

I thought we all "were" Mustang enthusiasts here
I have no idea what that has to do with you getting :owned: by clueless tire shop employees by reacting to their yanking your chain...

guess not:nonono:
 I guess not :bang:

He's a 9 dollar a hour tire changer. What do you expect those guys share the bottom of the automotive food chain with jiffy lube "techs". What offends me is when people call those guys mechanics or techs.

im with ya Mike. A technician is a trade. it takes skills. any highschool monkey can change tires all day.

and to the original poster, who the hell cares if he didnt knw it was a GT?? did you spend all that money to make other people say "wow, he drives a V8", or did you spend it so you can enjoy your ride? just today i had my car in my bay doing some work on it, and another Honda Technician told me he thought me car was a V6 b/c it didnt have any tailpipes. who the hell cares? i just laughed. why would you get so worked up about it?

^+1

Iv never had my car called a V6, clostest I GUESS is 2 guys pull up to a red light next to me and look at my fendor badges (40th) and look at me and are like "Hey I what do those badges mean?" and I told em that it just means thats its an 04, and that all 04s came with the 40th badge.

BUT if someone were to call my car a V6, I wouldnt care....iv got nothing to prove, and if they wanted a demonstration that its not a V6, id be happy to oblige!

People ask me all the time when I'm at the car wash or filling up with gas.. "Hey, you got a 5-oh in there?". Then when I tell them it's a 4.6 they get that disappointed look in their face and walk away..

Ignorance is bliss I guess..

Got my BFGs yesterday so me and my dad decided to go to Wally World to have em installed. While they were finishing up I overheard 1 tech asking another "is this a GT or a V6 w/ GT badges:mad:

Im like yeah its a GT (in the back of my mind im thinking, you dip@$%%^, its got dual exhaust, GT ground effects AND DOES IT SOUND LIKE A V6:mad:

Are people really that frigging dumb???????

Rant over.

Am I the only one who doesn't know what GT ground effects are? You do know that the GT has the same body panels as a V6 save for the hood on the 03 and 04 models right?

Sixers have the GT hood, side scoops, and same spoiler. I removed the GT badge on my trunk, and put running ponys on the side as well. Think it looks cleaner.

I really believe that most people know very little about Mustangs and the various trim levels. I have seen people in minivans point and laugh at the Cobra badges on my fenders at stoplights

Think about it, if you were not a car person whatsoever and you saw a car with Cobras on it... It is kinda humorous... :)

And to the thread starter, at least the incident made for a fairly popular thread :nice:

I have seen my fair share of imposters out there posing to have a COBRA, or a GT, have even seen GTR bages on a V-6. WTF is a GTR mustang???? It would have gotten under my skin, but as soon as the remark was said I would have ******ed my keys and ran for the door! I don't think this is an issue of not knowing the difference between the mustang options, as it is an issue of stupidity.
