WTF?

Dammit, every time I try to decode this VIN it tells me it's not a valid VIN.

Can any of you foureyed Capri/Stang gurus help me out here?

0R14A603091

Not needing a Carfax, just want to know what engine it originally came with. I thought it was a fourbanger but, it could have been a sixer? I know it originally had a manual tranny (heh... tranny) and was brown with brown interior. The car in question is in me sig on the left.

88hp? Oh that poor little beast.

It's definitely doing better now.

Thanks Wythors.

Anyone know what the deal is with the short VIN? Did they just use shorter VIN's in 1980 and older, or what?

From the looks of it, there are fewer options defined in the VIN number setup. No identifiers for transmission, axle ratio, interior options or paint color. Maybe there weren't many choices in these areas, so no place for VIN information for them.

That's what I was wondering because all the decoders I used said the VIN was incomplete or not valid.

Sounds like the Capri never left the desert. Must be rust free.

The current 17-digit VIN came into being in September of 1980 for the 1981 model year.
