Undercarriage, Keep it blue or paint it red

I have to do two more top coats of Zero Rust on the undercarriage. Presently it is painted zero-rust blue. The car is going to be painted blue, so I thought blue might be cool.

I was debating now, changing to the zero-rust red oxide or red (similar to what the car would have come with)

What do you think?

black?? I think black looks much better. I only do oxide red if its a full non-modified resto

Blue looks great, it thats close to the car color I would stick with that.

Go with Satin or Semi-gloss balck. It's easier to keep clean and stays cleaner longer.

A lot of the components of the car are black (like the rear end), so I want the contrast between colours

I was going to stay blue, and then paint white lemans stripes along the underside of the car.

I thought this week about using red oxide, just to make it look similar to the factory look.

The main thing is all of the panels are seam sealed well, and have a thick coating of rust protection.

is ZeroRust like Por15? Never heard of it

my 65 is sonic blue, undercarrage is rustoleum navy blue. very close to each other colorwise, the car isnt intentionally driven in the rain, so keeping it clean isnt a big issue. your blue is pretty light, so it might be a bit tougher keeping it looking good. i like the idea of lemans stripes on the underside!

Zero Rust Website It is a little different. Por 15 requires a lot more prep work among other things. Zero Rust can go over paint and rust (I cleaned mine to bare metal) I like it but have never used Por 15 so don't know how it compares.

I like sonic blue, nice colour choice. The zero rust blue is not close to my finish colour. I don't expect my car to see too many rainy days.
Mustangs tend to rust, so I am going overboard on the rust protection

instead of black since you want a contrast, try a charcoal like color. I plan on doing all my suspension in charcoal and my undercarrage in satin black. Dupli Color has a flexible bumper/trim paint in charcoal that is the perfect color. Just my .02

Did you prep and paint the whole undercarriage on your back or did you use a rotisserie? Looks good, how much time did you spend on it? I think you can't go wrong with any of the colors you choose, it looks clean..

personally, if the exterior color isn't going to be at least similar to the zero rust blue i'd go with another color on the undercarriage, otherwise it will end up looking like one of those lowriders with the entire undercarriage painted white. just my opinion but that's the kind of vibe i get from it. i would also suggest black but maybe a contrasting black to the other black pieces under the car, for instance if the suspension parts are gloss black then paint the undercarriage semi-flat or satin black, or maybe a really dark charcoal gray like ZO6 suggested. if don't want to do black then definitely go with a red oxide color, flat red oxide of course.

Yeah, I think that is what my philosophy is at this time. This Zero-Rust blue is not close, unless I were painting the car "grabber blue" The body colour (blue I am using) is too dark for me to use on the underside of the car, so I'll talk it over with my son, and see what his opinion is.

I think the product is good, so If I were to do suspension work, or chassis welding in the future, (which I plan on) using an off-the-shelf colour makes touch ups easier. Personally I was thinking of red-oxide which is close to what a factory car would have.

for what it's worth, i used 3m undercoating on the flooer of my car and painted the frame rails semi gloss black with a good clear coat. it looks pretty good and has a nice contrast and maintenance is really easy that way too. my car originally had black floors, though, so i'm not far off from what the factory did.
