but at the same time you don't want a clutch that when you lauch is going to slip...i have a spec stage 2 in a near stock car and it's the best feeling clutch i have ever driven mustang or not....also it grabs and goes no clater no nothing the stage 3's i have drvien are all pretty much the same they dont make anymore noise...the frist 500miles both these stage 2 or 3. Make some noise but that goes away compeletly.

this is true, of course a slipping clutch is going to hurt performance...i was just bringing up something to think about, in prolonging the life of the T5....

Anthony, looks like you are right. im actually kinda surprised. i would have thought the stage 3's would not have Marcel springs and such, and would be pretty harsh. sounds like that is not necessarily the case. on the street most people want a clutch that slips a little (more organic material) and weaker hub springs (less chatter) for ease of driving and taking it easy on the drivetrain.

this is very interesting.

also consider pedal effort, nothing worse than inching along in traffic with a heavy race clutch. another thing is the stock plastic quaudrant will not hold up long.

Rick, my clutch (installed by previous owner) came with a PP, disk, TOB and a crutch (for when i get out after driving).
you are right on about that. someone had once mentioned that Spec stage one, two and maybe three used the same PP. i think the stage three is a 3 piece non-circular design, so i doubt it is the same for a stage 3.

So, buying a new clutch would include a new TOB?

the kits sometimes do and sometimes dont include them.
if it does not (or sometimes even when it does), dont skimp on that item - get a good one, for reasons you are aware of.

So when people say Spec 1, 2, and 3 is "Spec" a manufacturer you're referring to? I'm replacing my clutch soon and am still kind of confused on what clutch to purchase. I have a CAI and my soon to be mods are going to be a full exhaust, gears, pro 5.0 shifter and possibly throttle body and maf along with intake manifolds. In the not so near future will be a supercharger.

Perky can hook ya up with one, if you want (from what i gather). i think Rick91GT has a link to his stuff in his sig if interested.

Where can I find the spec clutches for the cheapest? Do those members you listed offer the best price because I havent been able to locate them yet. Are the ebay ones not the real deal? Should I not buy one of those?

Also, how do those King Cobra clutches compare. They're almost as cheap as OEM, should I jump on one of those or is the extra price for the spec worth it?

isnt a guy in here (this sub forum) selling them? i thought i saw something in someone's sig about that...?

think of what it costs per shift in the lifetime of a clutch. a good clutch will be a pleasure - a bad one will be miserable.
just my two cents worth...
