grrr..

my girlfriend is being completely unsupportive

I got approved for the loan for $10,000

he will pay $4,000 for my car

the payments are $260 a month with a 9% interest rate

my previous car was $209 with a 13% interest rate

I don't see the big problem!!!

That's kinda high. Is that a 4-year or 5-year loan?

That's $13K you are paying for this car (assuming 4-year loan) when is all said and done.

You just gotta look at your own financial situation and decide if it's worth it to you to do this when you are paying $260/month 3 years from now on a car that has now depreciated to $4-5K

dont let a girlfriend determine what you should do with or to your car. it never ends well. i dont know how your relationship is with your g/f but if things end with her, you will always know that it was because of her that you arent driving the car you want.

im lucky, my girl wants to get rid of her grand cherokee and back into a mustang.

Dont forget to factor in insurance as well and make sure you can keep up with the payments. Honestly I say look for a younger car like 99-2001 that you can get for like 6-7k then you can save some cash. Or keep your v6 and slap a used 4.6 in there, i see used engines for like 1-2k then slap in a 8.8 rear end and enjoy your new custom v8 with v6 insurance. Or if you have the gas slap in a 03 cobra engine and tranny and 8.8 rear end.

That is what I paid for my car nearly three years ago with less milage however it wasn't a vert. IMO i'd say get a coupe and you can find one for 7-8k with the same milage. One word on buying used cars, PATIENCE, you will find a deal. +1 also on getting a 2001 or 2002 car, but I wouldn't get the 99-00 car just because they look too much like a v6. I know I own one. I did the same thing as you are doing when I had a v6. Difference was my v6 was paid off sold it for 6500 had 2k saved up got a loan for 2k paid it off in a year.
