I have been having surging idle with stalling for about a week now, i deleted my EGR, checked all sensors, timing, etc. Today i decided to see if an intake gasket was leaking. Upon pulling off the upper intake, i found my trick flow gasket to be about 75 percent soaked in what smelled like fuel. Also, there was a ring around the exhaust passthrough. It seems as if this gasket was leaking. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

Thanks,

Wayne

I have seen that problem before. Replace your gasket after cleaning the intake. It is normal for fuel to be there- just not copious amounts of it. Make sure your PCV and EGR systems are up to snuff.

The characteristics of your car sound like a vacuum leak caused by that gasket leaking. I hope that is all it was. Good luck!

New pack of 4 trick flow upper to lower gaskets are on the way, and i found that several of my studs were loose in the lower manifold, and they looked as if they had been chafed a bit. So, i'm hoping that was it, and soon as i get the gaskets, i'm going to put it all back together and torque it up really well and see how she runs, i'm still a bit afraid i may have a leaking lower.
