Can i use braided stainless steel lines for my AOD tranny for the cooling system to the radiator?? I ask this because i dont have the tools to bend new lines and i also havent done this before. thanks
It would be a lot cheaper to get the tube bending tool than to do braided lines. Its not that bad to do but does take some time and patience. Braided line is also kind of a pain in the ass if you have never done it before. You might look into that "socketless" hose. I have started using that for fuel lines and it works really well. I think they make a version that is for power steering and trans cooler lines.
I sorta want to go with the braided line because i think it looks nicer, i also dont really see how it could be more of a pain in the ass? Could you tell me more about this "socketless" hose?
It's a pain getting the fittings on the hose. If you don't cut the braided line cleanly... it will fray and make it a pain. Only thing I'm wondering is if the angle of the stock line and -AN fitting angles are the same... If not, you'd have a nice little leak at the trans.
how could changeing the angle cause it to leak? if its sealed properly it shouldnt leak in the first place. And if i go with the braided lines im gonna have the shop down the street make them for me.
The braided line does look nice so if thats what your after then go for it. In the original post you made it sound like you were considering it just because you didnt have the tools to do hardline.
Assomeone already mentioned, it can be a pain if you dont get a clean cut. It will be hell to get the fitting together and blood will shoot from your fingertips.
As far as the angle goes....I think he probably means like if you match a 45* AN fitting to a 37* JIC or something like that. Im sure that to use braided line, you would have to get the correct adaptors both at the radiator (which I believe is just pipe thread) and at the transmission to make everything male AN.
