Run 93 and back down timing if you have to. I would use it. I have never run nitrous so i don't know much about it, but I think your better off with the cheap stuff.

It would allow you to run more timing with less chance of detonation -- which of course you don't want with nitrous.

What's the entire combo? If you do not need the high octane gas do not use it, it burns colder. I also assume you are talking CAM2 which is LEADED, not good for the stock O2's.

Lol, me and my freinds were just having a discussion about this on Sunday. Friend #1 (a honda service writer) was telling me that high octane gas ruins your 02s but adds power. I didnt believe him until Rick said anything. Friend #2 said that the engine runs much smoother. Friend #2 is a honda dirtbike rider and a honda tech, but doesnt have a souped up car. I was trying to tell them both that high octane doesnt add power by running it. You need to increase timing to get a power increase. But I dont know anything about the engine running smoother, cuz I never tried it.

Rick's right - it should only be used if the gains from timing increases/compression increases/NO2 use outweigh the downsides of it being harder to ignite and burning colder/more slowly. And I didn't even think about how they were increasing the octane - lead causes all sorts of problems. Do they make anything with that high octane that's unleaded?

Yes. Many Sunoco stations (I've not seen them here in Illinois but several in Delaware) sell 103 Octane, no lead race fuel. The rice rocket motorcycle guys fill up their tanks with the stuff thinking that it gives them more power. Who am I to tell em they're pissin' in the wind? hehe

I don't consider the 103 HIGH OCTANE.

Micheal, Sunoco (GT104 actual motor octane around 99), VP (C10 motor octane around 99-100) and Torco make a UNLEADED race fuel but be prepared for $6.00/gal or more. The readings on the Sunoco are all over the place according to the info I have seen. The NMRA took it off the Spec fuel list and re-added the VP.

Most guys that try to run a LEADED fuel like C16, CAM2, etc.. only get a few thousand miles out of the O2 max before they fail...

EVERY COMBO IS DIFFERENT but on my old built 302 combo, 8.8:1 comp I ran 93 octane pump gas, 8 degrees base timing, 1 range colder plus gapped down to .035 and ran 130mph.

SUMMER GAS is different then WINTERIZED gas you need to be very careful it changes the tune and can caused burn't pistons!

i remember when i owned my 87 turbo buick, everyone was making their own homemade fuel using a paint thinner called xylene. it is equal to 117 octane. one gallon of xylene and 3 gallons of 93 give you 99 octane. No more than 30% xylene mix. Add 0.5 ounze of Marvel Mystery Oil per gallon of xylene. It will not hurt your injectors, it will clean them. if anyone has any doubts go to turbobuick.com and do a search on the word xylene. later, tom

I can asure you that CAM2 is 110 octane and it is LEADED, under $4.00gal and is a old scholl fuel that has been around for years. They sell it 2 blocks up the street from me at Sunoco.
