Recently pulled the codes from my 89hatch. Came up with a code 85, for the charcoal canister solenoid. I took the canister off when i deleted my smog pump don't think i knew what it was. Im about to put it back on, and seen that it has two spots for vac lines. One for the line that runs to the back of the car, and the other i have no idea... Anyone wanna share some info. I'm sure its gotta come from the cluster of vac lines on the passenger side near the fire wall but to to keen on which one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankx

Charcoal canister/box ....One line from the back like you said the other lines goes to the underside of the upper intake .
If you're talking about vacuum lines the valves before the smog pump air diverter and air bypass then those vacuum lines come from the rubber vacuum block that is near the the rear of the passenger side strut tower and those plastic vacuum line go (white to air diverter black to air bypass)

I needed that diagram also. I finally found the charcoal canaster that I took off my car years ago. Hopefully reinstalling it will get rid of the gas fumes in the interior of my car.

Even though this diagram confused the hell out of me once I got started I finally managed to get my charcoal canister back on my car. Drove it about 50 miles last night and so far no gas smell. Going to keep my fingers crossed that it dosen't come back.

If it was useless, Ford wouldn't have spend the $15 it cost to put it on the car. Mutltiply $15 times a million cars and that's $15 million dollars. My guess is that is more money than you'll ever earn. If that is not an accurate statement, you need to set up a cash giveawy to help some of the guys here fix up their stangs.

Since you seem to be lacking in understanding of how the Ford electronic engine control or "computer" works, here's a book to get you started.

Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control 1988-1993 by Charles Probst :ISBN 0-8376-0301-3.

It's about $25-$35 from Borders.com see http://www.amazon.com/ . Select boo...very good, and I found it to be very helpful.

Here's pics of the hose if anybody cares.

It's the left upper hose here.

My finger is pointing at the hose here.

Here the hose connects to the canister. The hose is in the center of the pic.

It will be available through your local auto parts store. Advance Auto parts has them, and AutoZone does too. Ask for a canister purge valve. Cost is $29-$47 depending on brand.
