My car sounds like crap under light acceleration (probably higher R's too, but the exhaust gets too loud to hear it), I did a search and I heard that it could be caused from valve train noise echoing due to my O/R pipe. What should I check to see if this is my problem?

I figured it was an exhaust leak, so I went under the car while it was running and had a friend rev it (but I couldn't find anything because there is no noise except when it's under load) so I pulled the h-pipe to header connections apart and sealed them w/some rtv and bolted them back together as tight as I could but it didn't do anything to help. I also retightened the header bolts with no change.

Any ideas??

I don't know but mine does that too. I had never thought about it being echoing in the mid-pipe before though. I don't sweat it, I used to, but now I kind of like it It reminds me I have a pushrod valvetrain and the torque that comes with it.

Does your engine run rough or show any other symptoms of problems?

Did you check the header gaskets? This turned out to be the problem in my friend's 96 GT.

The engine runs fine, I don't see any problems with the header gaskets. But I guess if it broke on the bottom I wouldn't see it anyway. Maybe I'll just replace em and see.

thanks
