i have noticed that when i drive my car hard , anything past 5800 rpms i here a noise i think is coming from the valve train maybe valve float. it only happens when the motor reaches 5800. it sounds like a clattering noise. i have only had this car for 2 months. it has a e cam.i was told it has all good valve train in it including 1.7rr.i have not pulled the valve covers yet.motor is fresh to but could use more power. any thoughts on this.

hmm...wierd....it could be an exhaust leak you just cant hear until its pushing that much air....i mean, if the valve springs have a lot of miles on them than it would probably be valve float...but from what you said they dont.

yeah thats what i figured. the valvetrain is all new with 500 springs.i have had 5 litres with a 130,000 and never herd valve float until maybe the rev limiter. when it hits 5800 it does not feel like the motor is doing anything unusal. igot a professional products intake on the way for so maybe ill pullthe valve covers and go over the exhaust

your running around .540+ lift with e cam and 1.7 roller rockers, could be your problem

not sure on the intake side, i would guess .550, on exhaust im running stock, but im going to stronger springs too... its IMPORTANT to have the correct springs, if not, at high rpms valve float will occur.... sounds like your problem... running b303 with 1.7 roller rockers, about a .515 or so total lift... not as much as you
