Vibration problem

Alright, so I'm getting a vibration when I usually reach 50mph. I can feel it through the steering wheel and the front end feels a little loose while driving at a higher speed. What do you guys think is the problem? tie-rods? please help

my guess would be the front wheels are out of balance

The wheels were balanced about 3-4 months ago. I can't imagine them going out of balance that quickly.

hey man same problem here. You need new front brake pads and your front rotors resurfaced!

Brakes or warped rotors would vibrate while braking...not a 50mph.

A warped tire would cause such a vibration...might go ahead and have a tire shop take a look. Sometimes a steel belt will shift and cause warpage.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm gonna throw on a different set of tires I have and see if the problem is still there. Then I will know if its the tires. I'll let you know the outcome.

check the balance. you should rebalance every 3000 miles.

IMO balancing your tires every 3000 miles is overkill.

Do you feel it in the back also? Rotate the tires, see if the vibration shifts to the back or if it goes away. You said your tires were just balanced. Are the insides of the wheels clean? Something as simple as mud or snow stuck on the insides of the rim can throw balance off and give you this issue. Also, I've only seen this once, but I did have a car with a vibration problem and when I took the wheels off to balance them, there were large accumulations of WATER inside. That was a simple fix.

Well last night I threw on my old rims onto the front of the car. I took it for a little drive and didn't notice any vibrations. I guess I'll go get my tires balanced and have them look at my front tires. There isn't any mud or snow on the inside of the rim. I live in Cali. My tires are looking worn on the front so it might be time for some new ones.

Look at the tires closely. Feel across the tread. If you feel sort of a valley then they probably wore funny. It throws the belt out of whack and you get the vibration. It's happened to me with a set of Mastercrafts on my Probe and the cheapo Tire Kingdom knock-offs I replaced them with.

The pesky lead weights that they slap on the rim of the tire can fall off as well so if you had your tires balanced recently one of the weights the service tech put on could have fallen off. especially if it has a large lip on the edge of the rim most balance weights are designed for stock metal rims and not the larger walled alloy rims.

If you have ever had the tires patched after a flat they may never balance
right.... especially if you have 2 patchs on the same tire. I always get plugs
now when I get a flat for that reason.

a patch will not affect balance. i have never seen a tire not balance b/c of a 4 oz patch.

Well I'm going to go get my tired balanced today when I get off of work. Hopefully that is the problem and nothing else.
