I finally cured the high-rpm sputter that's plagued this car for years by throwing the last of the parts-store coils as far as I could and putting an MSD coil in it instead. The car ran better than it has in years. Well, except for pissing fuel out the hot tank but that'll have to get cured another day. Had good fun with some very evenly-matched cars, including a BMW M coupe, an E36 M3, an ex-Bondurant instructor Crown Vic with a Roush-installed SN95 SVT Cobra drivetrain and massive brakes/suspension (aka the car the Marauder should have been), a turbo'd Acura NSX, an R32 Golf, maybe some others I'm forgetting.

260 RWHP under 3425 lbs with me in it, on 255/40 Hankook R-S3's with Maximum Motorsports suspension

Nice!!! That car sits so well and goes through the corners flat and stuck. MM parts are amazing.

ROFL...I used to do track days with the guy in the Saleen replica that was the subject of the author's fixation. Turns out they're brothers, and I don't think either of them had any idea what an internet sensation that was going to be

Damn you can drive...looks so effortless too.

Funny how the NSX driver just waived you past him. He knew he was done.

They make new pistons every day, so why worry?

Awesomeawesomeawesome. I love your track videos. Most around here are actually strip videos, which are great, too. It's just refreshing to see some corners.

Also...dat Crown Vic...

I attended Bondurant back when they used those Vics as instructor cars. They gave me a boner. 32V DOHC Cobra engine, Cobra transmission, 3.73 or maybe even 4.10 axle, Recaro drivers seat, rollbar, giant brakes, swaybars as thick as your arm, and every last bit of it looks factory installed. That's why I say they're what the Marauder could have been, should have been, minus maybe the bar and the Recaro. A few years later, they sold off all but one or two of their 12-car fleet, and I damn near bought one, until they told me that technically, the cars didn't have VINs, and I'd have to sign a document swearing I'd never even try to title it for street usage. Well that was half the point, so I bailed. Then what to my surprise, I move here a few years ago, and there are two of them showing up at track days. One is owned by the guy that owns that track, and the other is owned by the guy who runs ProAutosports (which is the one in the video)...and guess what? They're both ing titled and licensed for the street. Jealous doesn't begin to describe it! Would have been an awesome toy for probably $12k out the door. Then I thought about building one, and to be honest, I knew I'd have to lean heavily on the Crown Vic online community for help and knowledge, but they turned me off so hard I gave up even thinking about it.
