vin code decipher problem

I read in the shop manual how to decipher the vin code to find out what my gear ratio is. the only problem is that whats there doesnt match up with what the shop manual says. the manual says it should be either a 1, a, or c.(2.73, 3.27, etc.) my axle code is LE. anyone know anything about this?

Axle code E is for a traction lock 3.27...

if the e is 3.27, trac lock, what is the L part for. youd figure the shop manual would have it correct, right. guess not.

are you sure its the vin number and not the number on the rear axle?

yea its on the door sill tag under the column that says axle
