Vin code T candy apple red

I am looking for the "perfect" color red for my 68 coupe. I would like an original color, there is listed a vin code "T" candy apple red, does anyone have a car this facrory color or have a color photo of this color? I would like to see what the color looks like before I decide for sure.

I built this car, which was Candyapple Red from the factory. Candyapple was the perfect red, and was available 66-70:

actually this is what I want

Now all I know is candy apple red, I am afraind of buying asking for that and not getting exactly what i want. Also I want to paint the engine bay, trunk, etc myself before sending it to have the body painted and I want tit to match.

OK, that is NOT code T Candyapple Red. That is an aftermarket non-stock color.

it appears the car behing the aftermarket candy apple red car has the T code red. I like the aftermarket color but I think it would be both expensive and hard to mix. I can buy the factory code paint in an spray can. That would be an easy way tp paint the engine bay, truck, etc. then have the body shop paint the outside where the piant is most noticed.

Yes. The color you showed in the earlier photo has pearl and/or metallic in it, while the Candyapple Red factory color is straight red.

Is it possible to add something to the factory color to end up with the pearl finish?

What Chevy? Thats a 69 Mustang.

If you want candy apple red, I would go with the factory color, especially if your car is keeping the original look. If its a restomod then it doesn't matter.

I wanted midnight blue, and decided on caspian blue since it is an original Mustang color. I like keeping original colors. I think vintage stangs look the best this way.

That 69' looks fantastic, looks like Mustang "Redfire" maybe.

An easy way to get modern paint look like that is to pick a late model OEM color. There are lots of good colors to pick from looking at Mustangs, Corvettes, etc... Once you know the car year and color name any good paint shop can mix it. Paint mixing is all computer controlled these days. If you select the body shop that's going to paint your car then you can find out who mixes for them and get your paint there. You shouldn't have any color match issues that way.

And yes, you can add pearl to the original color but the pearl really changes the way the paint looks. IMO it would be risky to do that without spraying a little to see what it looks like.

Also, spraying a pearl paint is a little more difficult than solid color paints, you need to apply it evenly or the paint will not look consistent. A mixing the paint is incredibly important with a pearl.

I ADORE that aftermarket candy apple red. Im in love <3 !!! If I could get close to taht I would be VERY happy.

Im currently trying to enlist the help of a good friend, he is an older retired gentleman who ran a paint and body shope for over 25 years, in addition to that he still has the $,$$$ paint guns and LOVES classic muscle cars, so maybe he will help me.
