Where on a 1966 Mustang coupe can you find the VIN? I don't see one on the dash or the door. Where on the frame or any where else? The door date stamp was removed.
Thanks alot.
There is one on the left side as well it just is not as easy to get to because it does not have the convenient cut out you have to loosen the fender to see it. Also there usually one on the door jam but that it not the valid vin for registration in most states.
It is on the driver's side under the hood on the inner fender very near the shock tower. There is a cutout of the outer fender where the VIN is stamped. Also, it will be on the registration papers. Unfortunately, the VIN won't tell you a lot of information about your car regarding which , rear end, transmission, color, DSO and body it left the factory with.
That would be on the data plate that used to be on your driver's side door.
Don't know how they will know the data if they don't have the numbers, but maybe they have a secret way of determining the door tag data just by using the VIN.
Give them a call or email them.

According to their website:
We are the privileged licensee (contract #5012) to Ford Motor Company's entire production database for the 1967-1979 model years.
We can tell you everything about any Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury made in North America during 1967-1979.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Ford even placed a VIN on the dash under the drivers windshield until 67 or 68 model year. Till then it's on the fender apron.
Another nice thing is that all the original sheetmetal is date coded so you can tell if you hood, fender, trunk lid etc have ever been replaced. There is a date stamp visible on all original sheetmetal and NOS replacements.
OK, I just got off the phone with Marti auto, and they can make a new data plate with all the information including the Body, trim, date, etc from your VIN if you order a deluxe package. This is for 1967 and up cars. So, for the 66, you are just SOL.
